Essential oils have many healing properties yet you should always remember that as with any healing medicine there should be caution involved. To avoid any undesirable effects essential oils should be used with care:
1. Store essential oils out of the reach of children
2. Do not take essential oils internally
3. When using daily, vary the oils on a regular basis
4. Do not exceed the recommended dilutions
5. If taking prescribed medicine, please take medical advice before using essential oils in physical applications
If any essential oil splashes in the eye rinse with a few drops of sweet almond oil rather than using water and seek medical advice.
When using massage oil you should use a disposable bowl for the oil as the oil will be slippery and bottles will be slippery to hold. You should use a disposable bowl due to the fact that essential oils can be toxic.
IF you find a large repulsion to the smell of any essential oil always be extra cautious as this could be your body’s early warning system alerting you to the fact you could be allergic to this oil. Essential oils should also be stored in a cool dark place this should keep them in good condition for up to a year. Once diluted in a carrier oil they will keep for around six months if you add the contents of a vitamin E capsule.
