About Eucalyptus Essential Oil
Eucalyptus essential oil is extracted from the twigs and leaves of the eucalyptus tree. This species of tree originated in Australia and is the much loved habitat of the Koala bear. A koala eats approximately 200 to 500 grams of eucalyptus leaves per day, which could explain why you never see a koala bear with a cold.
Aborigines (native inhabitants of Australia) also have uses for the Eucalyptus. Traditionally eucalyptus leaves were crushed by Aborigines to help fight infection, treat wounds and to give relief from muscle pain. They would then use the remaining wood on cooking fires to flavour their food.
