Making Aromatherapy Massage Oil

May 15th, 2008 by emmaw

Before you start to make your own aromatherapy massage oil, there are a few simple rules to remember. Please remember that some essential oils are very potent and some are even toxic; essential oils should always be diluted with base/carrier oil *. Adding more of the essential oil does not give you any added benefits and could make your feel ill or irritate the skin. When using essential oils, less is more.

* Lavender and Tea Tree essential oil can be used directly on the skin, but you must limit the amount of time you do this.

How Do I Make Massage Oils?

When mixing massage oil, always measure your essential oils in drops using a dropper or pipette and remember to use a clean pipette for each oil you use. When mixing your oils, try to do this quickly as the oils evaporate very quickly.

Essential Oil and Oil Burners

Oil burners and lamp rings are a great way to use essential oils. Both items use heat to vaporise the essential oil, which releases the aroma and healing properties of the oil into the air.

Using Aromatherapy

May 5th, 2008 by emmaw

Aromatherapy and the use of essential oil have been used for centuries for their healing properties. They help balance the body and mind creating a spiritual well-being. There are many different ways in which to use essential oils and most are very simple to do. Below I have listed some ways in which aromatherapy can be used to benefit your health and well-being in every day life.

Massage - This is where essential oils are added to a base oil and massaged in to the body. Massage is one of the most pleasurable uses of essential oils as it allows the oils to be absorbed more quickly into the body and the warmth the fiction causes when rubbing the oil on the skin, enhances the aroma of the oils creating great therapeutic benefits.

Vaporisers - This is when you use an oil burner to heat the oils to release the aromatic perfume of the essential oils. Oil burners have a base where a tea light candle is placed and small concaved top where the water and a few drops of oil are placed. The candle is lit and the water will gentle begin to warm and fill your room with your favourite fragrance.
