Oil burners and lamp rings are a great way to use essential oils. Both items use heat to vaporise the essential oil, which releases the aroma and healing properties of the oil into the air.

These are both very effective ways to scent a room quickly and the aroma will last for as long as you choose to keep heating the fragrance or oils.

Oil Burners

Oil burners are a very popular product at the moment due to the very modern and stylish designs you can purchase. You can find almost any oil burner to suit your home and decor; the oil burners themselves now look very ornamental.

You can use any essential oils or fragrance oils in your oil burner, just pour water into the well of the burner and add your chosen fragrance, light the candle underneath the well and once the water is warm, the aroma will fill your room.

Below I have listed some of my favourite oil burner blends:

Lay back and relax - 3 drops of Lavender and 3 drops of Roman Chamomile Dilute essential oil.

Uplift your spirit - 3 drops of Cedarwood and 3 drops Patchouli essential oil.

Help concentration - 2 drops of Lemon, 2 drops of Basil and 2 drops Rosemary essential oil.

Sleepy Head - 2 drops of Clary Sage, 2 drops of Lavender and 2 drops of Roman Chamomile essential oil.

You may want to try these blends in your oil burner or have a go at making your own new blends.

Lamp rings

Lamp rings are also a fantastic way to scent your home; they are just as effective as an oil burner and can be used in any part of your home.

The lamp ring is also a good option for those with young children as there is no candle to be lit. They are also very simple to use; place the ring on a standard household light bulb with the groove facing up and place up to 5 drops of your favourite fragrance oil or essential oil in the grooved part of the lamp ring.

Below are a few recipes which I find enjoyable and effective, when used in a lamp ring:

Lovers blend - 2 drops of Geranium and 2 drops of Cinnamon essential oil.

Sensual and relaxing - 3 drops of Sandalwood essential oil.

Ease a cold - 2 drops of Eucalyptus and 2 drops of Lavender essential oil.

Invigorating - 1 drop of Rosemary, 1 drop of Lemon and 2 drops of Peppermint essential oil.

Burning essential oils in both oil burners and lamp rings, is a very easy way to get started with aromatherapy. It is also a simple way of using aromatherapy within everyday life.

I hope you enjoy using some of the recipes listed above and making up new and inspiring recipes from your own favourite essential oils.
